Keeping Healthy During the Holidays

Hey guys, Mr. PBL here. I always struggle with this. Not too long ago we had our last soccer game of the season, which was my primary source of exercise. We had Thanksgiving and Christmas is just around the corner and that means a lot of food and drinks! I know I am excited but I fear with every year coming faster and my metabolism getting slower, I will become unhealthy. This really scares me because I want to live a long time, mostly to annoy Mrs. PBL, Lol! That’s why I truly believe that keeping healthy during the holidays is very important.

Creative Ways to Stay Healthy

It is so hard for me to find time to exercise and just to stay healthy. I have a full time job keeping up with my blog, my son’s schoolwork, church, house duties, and etc. The list goes on and on. I noticed my health started to decline because I was sitting at my desk for most of the day. My hand would hurt and it would start to go numb. I then realized that I needed to make a change in my life. I didn’t want to pay the money to join a gym, so I started to make little changes in my routine. The results are amazing!

I have been having a hard time feeling good and energized throughout the day. I am a mom and a wife, I work, I clean, I do laundry, I run errands, and that’s on a regular basis. A lot depends on us women getting things done. By the end of the day I’m exhausted, especially when that time of the month comes along. Do any of you other women feel the same way?
I’m not sure if it’s because I am getting older or what, but I am always in pain, I feel bloated, I’m drained, and I just don’t feel like doing anything. I needed to do something different so I decided to do yoga in the morning. I can’t tell you the difference it’s made me feel.

My New Years Resolution

      It is the second day of the new year and I thought I would make my first new years resolution and share my progress with you. My new years resolution is to tone up my body and to lose some weight. Yes, I know it sounds like everyone else. This is huge for me because I never had struggled with my weight before. My whole life I had been 105 lbs. I could eat whatever I desired and I would not gain weight. It wasn’t till about a year after I got remarried that I started to gain weight and inches. I am now 130 lbs. It’s a big difference from 105 lbs and I’ve only been remarried since 2011. You’re probably saying big deal. It is a big deal to me when I have been tiny my whole life. I am not used to this extra weight. I can feel my stomach fat especially when I’m sitting (It’s so gross!). It’s really bad when your son makes your stomach talk! I guess it is a fact of life that I am getting older and I’m actually going to have to work at making my body look like how I want it to. So, I am going to try my best to tone up my body and just eat healthy and exercise. I love food so this could be hard for me!
    
    My husband on the other hand has gained weight since he met me which was six years ago. He blames it on my good cooking. Although my husband has already lost weight he is going to do this with me. My husband has an office job and is sitting down for most of the day. He has been doing 100 push ups a day. Our son reminded my husband last night that he is not done working out.  Our son did not know we had taken these pictures last night. He pointed to the pictures that we took and said, (“Dad, you used to be fat”). My husband kindly told him I just took these pictures. So, with all this being said my husbands goal is to have a six pack by the summer. My goal is to be able to wear a bikini and have a flat stomach by summer time.

    I will be eating meats and vegetables and some fruit. In case you didn’t know fruits have a lot of carbs and sugars so I will be eating one fruit a day. My goal is to go on a low-carb diet. I am going to cut out breads and pastas but I can have one cheat day for the week. I will be doing sit-ups, leg lifts, squats, and will be dancing for my cardio. I used to dance when I was younger and it definitely was a work out.

    There are many diets out there and they will say it works. Yes, some diets may work for you but I believe everybody’s body is different and only you know what will work. You just have to know your body well enough and be willing to try different things and to not give up. I will keep you posted so check back. Well, let the journey begin!!
