Desire Of Your Heart

You know that certain thing that you deeply desire. You may not tell people the way you feel but you have this strong passion for it. It will come to your mind every so often and oh how you wish you could have whatever you desire. You may even think it’s silly, but the desire won’t go away.

There are many things that I wish for. Now, as an adult, sometimes I think it’s silly to wish for certain things. I can be a very realistic person at times. I’m a believer that hard work pays off. I tell my son all the time that if he works hard then he can accomplish anything. As a parent, of course I would love to give him whatever he desires as long as I think it’s good for him.

It’s the same thing for us with our Father in heaven. He wants to give us our hearts desire. God knows your heart better than anyone. He wants to give us what we want. The funny thing is that I never thought of it that way until I became a parent myself. Our Father in heaven loves us so much and wants the best for us. If God thinks it’s good for us, then he will give it to us. We just have to ask. Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek and ye shall find, knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”

I used to think it was silly to ask for even small things, especially from God. Nothing is too small or too big for God. Your desires are not minuscule. The funny thing is that sometimes we may think “I don’t want to bother God with this.” God does not think it as a bother, he likes us to ask things of him. No conversation with God is going to bother him. Who wouldn’t love for our children to talk to us more often?

Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” When we think positive, positive things happen. It’s having faith.

Some might say they have asked God for things and nothing has happened. My son often thinks like this. He will ask for something and I say ok, but not right now. He is 12 and he still doesn’t quite understand “the not right now.” It could be because of money or it could be because we know we could find a better deal. All he is thinking is this what I want and why aren’t you giving it to me.

God knows everything and he knows what is best for us. He may have already said yes, but he is waiting for the right timing. Believe me the timing will be perfect!

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
