I listened to a sermon at church mentioning about being busy and I wanted to share on this. I think this topic is very relatable to everyone. Anytime I talk to someone I always hear people say, “I’m so busy.” I myself, even say that I’m busy. What does busy mean? It means to be occupied or absorbed. If you are occupied with the many things that are causing you to be busy then where is there room for anything else?
The first thing I do is, think about it. What is occupying my time? Is it work, kids, school, house duties, extra curricular activities, events, or running errands? How much of my busy time am I devoting to God? If you are making time for God, are you just penciling him in your schedule or is he apart of your whole day? In Psalm 46:10 God says, “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” If we are always so busy then how can we be still and know God?
I understand that life gets crazy and we live in a world of worldly things. We go out to eat and treat ourselves, or perhaps we want to go out on a date. Are we so busy that we are choosing worldly things to take a break from it all? I’m certain God likes fun too and he definitely has a sense of humor, but are we able to balance our busy life and still have God in the center of our life?
It’s easy to get distracted. In Colossians 3:2 God says, “Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.” Well, on earth we are in a battle. We have nothing but obstacles and distractions to keep our eyes off of God.
3 Things You Can Do To Keep Your Eyes On God
- We lean on God and that means asking him what he wants us to do for the day.
- Ask God to prioritize our day
- Pray diligently.
I feel that it’s important to realize it’s not good to be busy, because we are human and this causes us to lose sight in what God wants for us. I will try to strive to do God’s will. I hope reading this helps y’all on this positively beautiful day!
